Are kids okay?
My brother got expelled from school two days ago— and honestly, I don’t know what to think about it. He made us loose $2000, which burnt. But as I was drawing, I overheard a conversation between him and his guardian.
“You have no interests!” And that stuck with me. I’m very different than my brother, and one particular difference is how we both spend our time. I prefer doing something, like drawing, playing games, sculpting, writing, or talking to my lovely boyfriend. He, on the other hand, only plays one game.
He’s a bit of a stereotype, honestly. He plays one kind of game, doesn’t get jokes, and social cues much less. and, I recognise it might sound like I am talking about ASD [Autism Spectrum Disorder], if you know the symptoms, which I won’t deny. But this is a tangent.
I spoke to him a bit more recently, and though this sounds unethical, I have been observing him like a lab-rat during our conversations XD.
What I mean, I noticed the younger people are they exert specific characteristics. Such as, an issue with articulation. I don’t know if it’s just me, but they struggle to speak clearly and coherently, my brother is 14 and struggles to speak words he hasn’t screamed at his computer.
Is this due to technology? I am not sure. Maybe. I did think I was over-exposed to the internet, I had no time limits but my brother did.
Another thing I noticed is: “nonchalance”. Though I do recognise that this is more elder Gen Z, trends bleed down. It’s considered taboo to show an emotion; you can see this in older beauty standards which those let alone are a whole fun topic I might talk about!
But, that also could and IS leading to higher suicide rates, IIRC men are hit hard on this. So, I hope any guy who's reading this; reach out to anyone.
I think the Cocomelon apocalypse [NOT REAL TERM], is a massive factor. Kids are getting hella tired and bored if there aren’t a thousand jump cuts.
I miss the cartoons that felt… real. The ones made for kids, not for money. And kids nowadays aren’t getting that passion (Exception, Bluey is lovely.) and thus their passion is dying.
I miss kids who think we come from storks. This is kinda short, I just wanted to rant a little more haha. Thank you for reading, have a good day, and remember to be kinder to others.
